RULES & POLICIES - MECHANICAL PUZZLE COMPETITIONS

Last updated: July 28, 2026

This page explains the main rules and policies for the World Mechanical Puzzle Competition and related Competition Kit orders, organized by Mechanical Puzzle Competitions ("MPC", "we", "us", "our"). By ordering a Competition Kit, hosting a venue session, or participating in the competition, you agree to these terms.

1. Competition Kits, Competition Participation & Eligibility

Participation in the competition is available to individuals who purchase a Competition Kit through our official website during the registration period. Payment is for the purchase of a Competition Kit. Complimentary participation in a venue-hosted competition session is included for kit purchasers at no additional charge.
Each Competition Kit is assigned for use by one participant.
Participation is currently limited to individuals aged 14 and older. Participants under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian and must comply with any additional consent, supervision, or venue requirements established by applicable law or the hosting venue.
Host venues may apply reasonable local conduct, access, safety, or supervision rules consistent with their own policies and local law.

2. Competition Fair Play & Safety

Each participant must follow the instructions provided with the Competition Kit and any reasonable directions given by the hosting venue.
Any form of cheating, including outside assistance, sharing solutions during the competition session, copying another participant’s work, or tampering with materials, may result in disqualification.
Participants must handle all puzzle components carefully, avoid excessive force, and follow all safety instructions included with the kit.
Hosts provide reasonable on-site supervision in accordance with venue policies, but participants remain responsible for their own conduct and safe handling of materials.

3. Orders, Payment, Pickup & Refunds

Competition Kits may be ordered through our official website or by contacting us for approved group arrangements during the registration period.
An order is confirmed only after payment has been successfully processed and a confirmation email has been issued.
Competition Kit orders are generally non-refundable, although refund, transfer, or credit requests may be considered in exceptional cases at our discretion or where required by applicable law.
Competition Kits are generally collected at the selected venue on competition day, from the scheduled competition time onward.
If a purchaser is unable to attend the competition session, the purchased kit may still be collected from the selected venue by the end of the calendar year, subject to venue availability, local arrangements, and any instructions communicated by MPC.
If MPC must cancel or materially change a competition session at a specific venue due to shipping issues, venue unavailability, regulatory restrictions, force majeure, or other exceptional circumstances, affected purchasers may be offered a reasonable alternative such as a different competition date, later pickup, store credit, or a refund.
The price paid for each Competition Kit includes any taxes, payment processing charges, currency conversion charges, or similar mandatory order-related amounts charged by MPC. No additional mandatory charges will be added by MPC after checkout.

4. Hosting Venues

Hosting venues participate voluntarily unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
Venues are independent local hosts and are not responsible for judging solutions, calculating official rankings, or processing participant payments unless expressly stated by MPC.
Venues are expected to provide a suitable space for the competition session and reasonable light supervision, but they may also enforce their own venue rules, safety requirements, and local operating policies.
MPC remains responsible for the competition format, official scoring, rankings, and core event materials unless expressly stated otherwise.

5. Scores, Rankings & Disputes

All official scoring and rankings are based on solutions and competition data submitted through the official answer process designated by MPC.
Requests to review or dispute competition results must be submitted through the Contact section of our website within 14 days after the publication of the official puzzle solutions.
MPC will review disputes in good faith. However, all final decisions on scoring, rankings, prizes, and awards remain at MPC’s reasonable discretion.

6. Privacy & Data Collection

We collect only the personal information reasonably necessary to process orders, coordinate venue participation, communicate with purchasers and participants, deliver or make kits available for pickup, administer rankings, and operate the competition.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include names, contact details, participant category information, venue selection, order and payment details, pickup or shipping information, scores, rankings, and related competition administration records.
We do not sell personal data to third parties.
Limited information may be shared with trusted service providers and partners, such as payment processors, email platforms, shipping providers, and hosting venues, solely to the extent reasonably necessary to operate the competition, process orders, coordinate check-in or pickup, and provide related support.
Participants, purchasers, and, where applicable, parents or legal guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, subject to applicable law. Where applicable law provides additional rights, these may include rights to restrict processing, object to certain processing, or request portability of personal data.
Official competition rankings may publicly display a participant’s name, country, host venue, category, score or points, and final placement. Photos or videos that identify individuals will be used only where permitted by applicable law, venue policy, and any required consent.
